In Quaker tradition, a witness is a way of living, rather than speaking or even being one who speaks.
A witness and a testimony are the same: simplicity, honesty, equality, community, peace are central to the faith.
A witness or a testimony (they are the same) is a living model, an example of what the Holy Spirit directs for us.
Or, in the wonderful quotation attributed to Francis of Assisi, “Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.”
