As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. – Revelation 3:19

I recall a voice on the radio, saying: “If you think accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior makes things easier, think again. It doesn’t! It makes them harder!”

Yes, living faithfully raises the bar, heightens the standard, makes you more aware of your shortfalls and failures. Often, Christ needs to say nothing.

Remember, too, Christ is there to help in your turning rightward.

This is he, which imputes his own Righteousness to the Children of Men, without whose applicatory Act and Gift of Grace, in imputing of his own Righteousness unto us, all creaturely Actings are but vain. (Elizabeth Bathurst, 1655?-1685)
