As my central blog, Jnana’s Red Barn offers a monthly merry-go-round of postings on Arts & Letters, American Affairs, Home & Garden, my Personal Journey, original Poems and Poetry Footnotes, Quaker Practice, and a selection of often whimsical photos I call Postcards. As I continue sorting through the goods packed away in its loft, I’m revisiting related book-length writings that also deserve their season in the air, and I’ve opened four related sites, including this one, for that purpose. Please feel welcome to become a regular guest at all five.
Thistle/Flinch is a free bookstore of my own poetry, fiction, and related work. The private imprint offers original ebooks in PDF editions for downloading to your own computer or printing out on paper, if you desire. Each month adds a new volume to the shelf.
Chicken Farmer I Still Love You engages some of the more prosaic challenges of living in our era. Its inaugural series, Talking Money, comprised a workbook for individuals and groups to use in uncovering and liberating the emotional, spiritual, and practical sides of money, wealth, labor, and time in our personal lives. Subsequent postings look at the Yankee Spirit, including New England’s celebrated foliage, and the continuing influence of the hippie movement on American culture.
The Orphan George Chronicles is home to my genealogical findings. Its narratives and research notes center on George Hodgson, who arrived in America as an orphan, and my line of descent from him. Along the way, I also examine the related maternal lines, including my Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in Ohio. In addition, the site includes the most complete biography yet of Robert Hodgson, an early Quaker minister who settled in Colonial Rhode Island; his firebrand preaching and escapades confronted the repressive authorities of New Amsterdam and New England, opening the way for religious toleration in the New World.
In addition, my novels and poems are appearing as ebooks at Smashwords.com. The volumes are available in a variety of digital platforms and may be obtained from many ebook retailers.
My photo boards at Pinterest offer visual perspectives on the people and places that shape my novels and poetry, especially. Feel free to take a look.
